Auvergne origin

The waters of St-Yorre emerge around Saint-Yorre, in the heart of the Limagne plain (Massif Central) between Issoire and Vichy. This is made up of Tertiary sediments covered with alluvium and bordered by two granitic faults to the east and west.

Taking advantage of these faults and these geological breaks, the waters of St-Yorre arise from the depths of the Auvergne land to your glass, to deliver their benefits to you. The strong pressures that reign in the depths of the earth, as well as the high temperature and the presence of carbon dioxide contribute to their emergence. Throughout this journey, St-Yorre is responsible for carbon dioxide and all the minerals that make it rich. The natural presence of carbon dioxide contributes to maintaining its bacteriological purity. It is also this gas that gives it its unique sparkle.

Over 150 years of history

The discovery of the source

A pharmacist, Nicolas Larbaud, owner in Saint-Yorre, a small town located in the Vichy basin, noticed, from 1850, the taste qualities and properties of the natural springs gushing on his land. He asked for and obtained, in the middle of the 19th century, the authorization to exploit them.

In 1859, he created the first water company in St-Yorre: “La Compagnie Propriétaire des Sources Minérales de Saint-Yorre, Bassin de Vichy”.

In 1862, the site received the right to bear the mention "Bassin de Vichy" because of the similarity of the physico-chemical composition of the waters of Vichy and St-Yorre.

Without being de-ironed, the waters of St-Yorre are first bottled by hand. Towards the end of the 19th century, many small local establishments were created. Around 1920, there were still 22. Since that time, St-Yorre has developed strongly, with sources of identical characteristics grouped together under the name of "Royale".

St-Yorre, origin of the name

The name St-Yorre would come from a modification over the centuries of the name of Saint-Thierry:

We pass successively from Saint-Thierre to Saint-Thioire (12th century) to finally Saint-Tiorre (1411).

In the 16th century, the name changed again and we discovered a Saint-Yourre (1666), Saint-Hyorre, or even a Saint-Tior... It was at the end of the 16th century that we finally found the appellation definitive of St-Yorre.
